The Fifth U.S.-China Oil & Gas Industry Forum was held June 13-15, 2004 in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. High-level government officials from the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Commerce and China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), along with the members from both China and the U.S. oil and gas industry, attended the forum.
The U.S.-China Oil & Gas Industry Forum is a public-private partnership involving government and industry representatives from the United States and China. The Forum enables China and the U.S. to meet common oil and gas industry goals, including assisting China in its efforts to secure reliable and economical sources of oil and natural gas while facilitating investment by U.S. industry.
The agenda for the Fifth Forum focused on: China's energy industry; outlook and trends for natural gas in China, including the development of an LNG industry; and global energy market competition.
